Our Story

Our winery is situated in Kyperounda, one of the villages of Pitsilia, from which it took its name. It is located fifty kilometers from Limassol and seventy five from Nicosia at an altitude of 1200 meters, Kyperounda winery is Europe’s highest and one of the highest in the world. The operation of Kyperounda winery was started in the late 1990s by a group of local wine makers, whose initial aim was to utilize to the full the wine growing potential of the area. Their collective efforts coincided with the vision of the Photos Photiades family and led to the production of high quality Cypriot wines of a highly particular character.

The smooth Mediterranean climate of Cyprus is characterized by hot dry summers and relatively wet and mild winters, while autumn and spring provide the ideal temperatures and humidity conditions for the ripening of the grapes.

Our winery facilities are built on three different levels in order to ensure the smooth transportation of the grape juice. Due to the state-of-the-art equipment and the magic touch of the experienced winemakers, all our grape varieties are bottled under exceptional conditions. The whole process leads to an abundant production that exceeds 300,000 bottles annually. Currently, our subterranean cellars are patiently hosting and maturing 300 barrels of 225 liters each, and our vision evolves in parallel with the character of the wines.


The aim of our winery is to produce unique wines through understanding and adapting viniculture practices. The tradition of viniculture in our region, both locally in Pitsilia and in Cyprus in general, provides an exceptional source of techniques that we – in each winery – have a duty to preserve as our heritage and adapt to the modern gastronomic needs of wine lovers.

Η παράδοση της αμπελουργίας στην περιοχή μας, τόσο τοπικά στην Πιτσιλιά, όσο και ευρύτερα στην Κύπρο, είναι μια μοναδική πηγή τεχνικών που εμείς έχουμε χρέος να αναπτύξουμε και να προσαρμόσουμε στις σύγχρονες γαστρονομικές ανάγκες του κάθε ενός φίλου του οινοποιείου.

Kyperounda’s winery building completion

In 2005 the building that would host Kyperounda’s winery was completed. Our wines got their own new home in which are being produced until today’s date.
